this summer my sister, courtney and a small group from california are traveling to mombasa, kenya. their main purpose in going is to build a rehabilitation home for ten girls that have been sex trafficked in this tourist city. for the past 6 years my heart has been stirred for girls that have been sex trafficked. i have had the privilege of interacting with some of these girls in africa and thailand. every girl that i talked to wanted to get out of the industry. however, their was always the big question about how they could escape safely to their new life. what courtney’s group will be doing helps answer this question. they are teaming with an organization called “unlikely heroes” to build a rehabilitation home that will house 10 girls who have recently gotten out of the sex industry. the amazing thing about this place is that it not only will provide safety from old pimps, but will also provide comprehensive restoration so that the victims can receive emotional and psychological healing as well.
to help raise money for the girls home, they are selling these awesome necklaces for $18. they are handmade, and 100% (literally every penny) is going towards the home.

this past weekend two of my homegirls and i had a mini-reunion in a little ole town called mount joy. the three of us met 5 years ago in africa and we have been buddies ever since. last time we met up in florida– both of the girls were newly weds and lee anne was pregnant with her first, amelie. (click here to see lee’s prego shoot from 2 years ago!) this time around jenny wren has an adorable 2 month old boy and lee anne is preggers with her second….oh yes…and i am still fabulously single and childless. (shooooot. the Lord knows what i can handle! ha!)
